1979 (Showa 54) Munakata Town Cultural Property Survey Report 2nd Collection / "Kugoto Tomb Group"

Excavation investigation was conducted by Fukuoka Prefecture Board of Education from November 1954 to January 54 next year. Two small stone chambers, one stone coffin tomb, and one stone lid soil tomb (cistern golden tomb) were detected, including 13 tombs operated from the top of a hill of about 50 m in height from the 4 th to the 6 th century. The burial facility of the ancient tomb is the earliest lateral hole type stone room, the vertical hole type lateral mouth style stone room (sidewalks), sideways sill, box style sarcophagus, decked bamboo coffin (Watari Kakekura coffin) It is characterized by various variety. Also, from the No. 9 tomb (7 m in diameter) built in the middle of the 5th century, a patterned decoration of a sword with a silver inlay gone, a three-leaf ring (Mr. Sannoko) has been excavated. Armor and bird-shaped special earthenware etc are also excavated from other tumuli.
