Places and times seen in Munakata city
In Munakata it is a traveling bird, and in the autumn migration period, there are times when you see a figure resting on grasslands such as ridges of paddy fields and banks of rivers. If anything, I often see it in the spring rather than autumn.
Characteristic
Total length 30 cm. Same color of both sexes. It is the largest among the species that can be seen in the country, and in the summer wing, it tends to appear the most pale color.
The craniocaudal line tends to become significantly thin from the forehead to the beak. Along with the thinness of the eyepatch line of the eyepoint, eyebrow spots appear widely in front of the eyes. There are 16 or 18 tail feathers. Foot yellow green, flying heavier than Tashigi, the wings are wide and long, the tip looks sharp.
Male is a breeding ground in a thick voice, "Mr. Gijitszbjak, Zubiak" while flying around, flicking while producing a sound "Gogogogogo" and making a display flight. Another name "Raikage"
Habit
They fly to grasslands, meadows, agricultural lands, etc. Living in a single bird. I insert a beak in the soil and eat earthworms etc.
distribution
Summer birds in the Chubu region plateau and northernmost of Aomori Prefecture, and traveling birds in other areas.
Breeding in Primorsky, Hokkaido, etc. and overwintering on the eastern and southern coast of Australia.
Other
It is quite difficult to identify Tasugi, Tsukigoshigi, and Hariosakigi at observation sites.
