In Munakata it is a winterbird, from the end of October until the beginning of March.
There are limited places you can see. It is a very timid bird, it is difficult to approach, often seeing from a distance.
At Munakata you can see at the dam lake.
Characteristic
Total length 42 cm.
As males are said to be known as "pandragamo", they are characteristic feather colors, so they will not be mistaken for mistakes. Whole whitish, two eyes from the eyes, rear head, side chest, back, shoulder feathers etc are black. There is a white short crown feather. The waist-to-tail is gray-black, and aside there are fine black corrugations, so it looks grayish.
Females are dark brown from head to neck and head from throat to white. My eyes are black. Beaks and others are grayish brown.
Both sexes are part of the rain covering, the next row of wind cuttings is white.
Habit
It also enters lakes, rivers, ponds, inland bays and fishing ports. It is a very timid bird, it never approaches people. Many move in a group, move around actively, diving and eat fish, crustaceans, aquatic insects and so on. It will be a large flock in the spring migration period.
However, in Munakata, looking at the course of the last few years, we have seen a herd of up to ten or so, but we could not see any more herd.

It breeds in the northern part of the Eurasian Continent and overwinter on the Baltic Sea Coast, the Yellow Sea Coast, and the Japanese Archipelago Coast. The number is small.
