In Munakata you can observe throughout the whole city during the spring and autumn migration period (April to May, September to October), but the opportunities to observe are limited because the number of flights is small.
Characteristic
About 22 cm in length. It is smaller than thrush and almost same color in both sexes.
The males have a dark gray head, black eyes, eyebrows, beneath the eyes, rasp, the base of the jaw line is white. The upper side of the back is olive brown, windy and tail grayish brown. The beak is blackish brown, the association line, the lower beak and the foot are yellowish brown.
Female, forehead to back neck, cheeks dark olive brown, eyebrows spots, under the eyes, thighs to throat, jaw lines white. There is a grayish brown spot on the throat. Orange brown color aside from the chest is slightly faint than males.
Both males and females have white and gray axis spots. There is no vitiligo at the end of the tail. The iris is dark brown.
Habit
It flew from a flat land to a mountain forest. While you are traveling you can see it in a group, but when you stay for a few days you often act from one to several birds. In autumn we eat nuts often, and in the spring we eat earthworms etc on the ground.
