Places and times seen in Munakata city

In Munakata a few traveling birds or winter birds will fly. The number of flights depends on the year. You can observe where the mistletoe fruit is favorite and flocked to big trees with mistletoe fruit. In Munakata there are many Hiranjak, often associated with herds of Hillenak.

Characteristic

Total length 20 cm. It is a little smaller than Ryuko. They are almost same color in both sexes.
Crown feathers are characteristic. From the head to the upper back, the chest is a dull brown color. The top of the head gets darker in red. It is black from the forehead, from the jaw to the throat, the black color of the overrun line does not reach the crown feather.
From the lower back to the upper tube, the belly is gray, and the lower tube is orange brown. The wind and the tail are blackish brown, the first row and the second row wind turbines are white, and on the tip of the next race of wind cutting, there is a projection of red waxy substance. On the outer valve of the first row wind cut and the feather edge of the inner valve tip are yellow or white L-shaped plaques.
The tip of the tail is yellow, there is a thin white line on the extension of the mouth corner and the border of the overpass line.

Habit

distribution

It is a winter bird observed almost in the whole country. If anything, it is common in northern Japan.
It breeds in the cold districts of the northern hemisphere (northern Siberia, Alaska, northern Canada, etc.) and overwintered from the central Eurasian continent to the Aegean coast.

Other

Hillenak and kirenjak can be distinguished clearly by the color of the tail feathers.
