Places and times seen in Munakata city
Munakata is a winter bird. There are cases to observe in paddies near Satoyama, but it is very rare.
Characteristic
Full length male 43 to 47 cm, female 49 cm to 54 cm. It is about the same size or slightly smaller than the cabbage glass.
Male is from the head to the chest, the body upper surface below the back is gray, the underside of the chest and the waist are white. Part of the first row wind cut is black, and the wind trailing edge is gray.
Females are wholly dark gray brown with brown spots on head and neck belly. Eyebrows and cheeks, waist is white. The wind-free lower side is whitish, blackish brown transverse plaque is clear and conspicuous.
Habit
They live in landfills, agricultural lands, wastelands, reeds, grasslands, etc. and act with a single bird. Especially act actively in the morning and evening. Fly around the ridges of paddy field, catch them by flying birds, and preying mice.
distribution
It is a winter bird, it is distributed almost all over the country, but it is local.
It inhabits the entire Northern Hemisphere and breeds in Siberia, Alaska and Northern Canada and fly as winterbirds to Europe, the Yangtze River basin, the Japanese archipelago and so on.
