Places and times seen in Munakata city

It is a winterbird and can be seen from October to April. In Munakata you can see lots of Hydrigamas in the lower catchment area of ​​the fishing river (downstream from the upper multipurpose bridge). There are things to see even at the dam lake.
Alongside Mongyeong, along with Cogamo, come early and raise it late.

Characteristic

Total length 48.5 cm.
Male is head to neck, breast is brownish brown, and its forehead is creamy from forehead. Some individuals have green luster behind the eyes. The top and side are gray with dense black spots. A part of the rain covering and the next row wind cutting is white and it stands out well when flying. Three row wind cuts are black and there are white feather edges. The belly from the belly is white, and the bottom tube is black. In the tail, the base and central tail feathers are black and the outer valves take gray.
Females are brown in color, brownish stronger than females of other ducks.
Both bees are leaded in color and the tip is black. The belly from the belly is white, the wingside is gray, and the wing mirror is green.

Habit

Living in rivers, ponds, lakes, coasts, inland bays, etc. In the wintering season, live in a flock, rising to land better than other freshwater ducks, eating the early grasses. We eat algae such as Aosha and rock paste.

distribution

It breeds in the northern part of the Eurasian Continent and overwinter in East Asia to Europe and in northern Africa. It is coming to Japan as a winterbird throughout the country.

Other

As a similar species, there are American hedori. There are also crosses (hybrid) individuals with American hedori, and it is difficult to differentiate.
