Characteristic

Total length 33 cm. It is big size. Her color is the same.
The so-called light-colored type is the adult bird, and the dark-colored type is considered as the young bird.
Adult birds are black on the forehead and face, and on the chest from the brow, and have white and black streaky patches from the brow to the occipital area. The lower surface of the posterior neck to the belly is white, and the upper surface below the back, the buttocks and lower tail, and the shin are black. The heel and legs are black. The iris is dark.
Young birds are black throughout, with pale gray streaky patches from the wing to the occipital area. The wings are also blackish brown, but when moulting is complete, some individuals have a bluish luster similar to adult birds.

Habit

They travel from flatlands to farmlands, rivers, grasslands, etc. in mountainous areas and act as a group, but most of them live in swarms of miyama glass. Eat insects, arachnids, plants and nuts and seeds while traveling, without staying in one place for a long time.

distribution

It is a winter bird and travels north of Kyushu, and less in the southwestern islands. In recent years, it is also found in northern Honshu and southern Hokkaido. A few may be mixed with a flock of orange glass.
Breeds in Primorsky of Siberia, south of Lake Baikal, northeastern China, etc. In the northern Korean peninsula, the Yellow River basin, in the vicinity of Yunnan province, staying birds, in the southern Korean peninsula, in the southern part of the Japanese Islands, in the southern part of Kansai, in the area of Jiangsu province, Guangdong province, and Fujian province.
