Munakata is a traveling bird. In rare cases, there is something that was observed at Munakata Okinoshima.

Characteristic

Less than 25 cm in total length, same sex of both sexes.
Summer wings are red-orange-brown with vibrant belly from the face, and there are blackish brown vertical spots on the top and ears. There are many red-brown feathers on the upper side than Obashigi. There is white and black spots from the lower abdomen. The beak is black, the base is thick, and it is about the same length as the head. Foot is greenish yellow and waist is brown spot on white background.
In the winters, the upper surface is uniformly grayish brown and the wing axis is inconspicuous. There is a whitish eyebrow group, and the eye point is dark. The underside of the body is white, with grayish brown spots beside her chest.
There is a black part called a subterminal band on the inside of the wing edge on the top surface, which helps to identify.

Habit

Tidal flats, coastal sand beaches and rocky spaces, estuaries, rivers, paddy fields and so on. Acting in a small group of several to tens of feathers, often mixed in the herd of Owasigi,

distribution

It is a traveling bird in Japan and it is observed at the time of migration. It flew locally and the number is small.
From around the world breeding in the Arctic coast, Greenland, on the West Coast of the continent of Africa, the continental coast of Australia (excluding the northern coast), the coast of the Americas Continent (excluding the eastern and western coast of Canada), the Caribbean Overwinter.
